Which Care Directories Should You Advertise In?

The top three results on the page illustrated above will get by far the most clicks out of the 10 that are typically displayed. And you'll find that most of these top 3 spots care occupied by care directories, so they can be very effective in generating quality enquiries for your home.

Once someone has clicked on the care directory's link they are taken directly to the web site where they will find a list of homes in the area. Most directories have 2-3 paid 'enhanced listings' that are displayed at the top of the list. This is where your home needs to be.

People using the internet tend not have the time or patience to sift through a long list of care homes. They will just pick the top 3 or 4 entries provided they look OK and seem to meet with requirements. So, it's simply a matter of getting an enhanced listing in the top three directories isn't it?

Well, no. You see here's the problem.

The top three directories shown in the Google search results changes depending upon what search term you enter. 'Care homes in Nelson' will very probably be quite different to 'elderly residential homes in Nelson', despite the searcher wanting to find the same thing.

So how do you know what directories to choose?

Well, first you have to do a lot of keyword research to find out what search terms people are using to find care homes of your type. Next you have to do a Google search for all those search terms and make a note of the top three directories in each results page. Then you have to contact the care directories you want to advertise in and find out how much they charge for an enhanced listing. Once ordered you must provide each of them with all your contact details, photographs and a description of the home to put in the entry.
